Power Cabinet
Meaning
“A power cabinet is the central enclosure in a distributed or “split-unit” DC charging system. It houses the heavy-duty components, including the power modules, cooling systems, and control electronics. The cabinet is responsible for taking High-Voltage Alternating Current (AC) from the grid and converting it into Direct Current (DC) to be sent to separate charging dispensers.
By separating the power electronics into a centralized cabinet, the actual charging dispenser (satellites) can be smaller and more compact, making it easier to install them in space-constrained car parks or charging bays. This architecture also simplifies maintenance, as technical service can be performed on the central cabinet without blocking individual charging spots.”
